We took our first airplane trip with the girls last week. We went to Myrtle Beach, SC for six days and then Adam and I drove to Columbia, SC for my friend's wedding. The girls did really good on the plane going and coming. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Here are pictures.

12 Month Check Up
The girls had their 12 month well baby visit today and things look good. Makenna is 18.12 lbs and Makayla is 19.2 lbs, and they are both 28 1/4 inches tall. They are around the 20th percentile for the weight and height. They were previously in the 50th percentile, so the doctor suggested we start feeding them more pastas and starches to get their weight up. They had to get four shots today, and they were troopers. Luckily for us, these shots didn't make them sick! They won't have to see the doctor again until they are 15 months old (on June 4th).

The Birthday Girls
So, we had the girls first birthday party on Sunday March 9th at the Merchantville Lodge. They had a great time playing with the other children and they received a lot of fabulous gifts. Here are some pictures from the party.

Long time no see!
So, things have been busy in the Doyle household lately. Both girls sprouted their first teeth about two weeks ago. (They both have two teeth each on the bottom.) We also have a lot of walking going on these days. Makenna showed interest in walking first, but it's Makayla who's taken off. I have attached a couple of videos below that show the girls playing and walking. I have a ton of pictures to upload, so I will have those in a later post.

Hi, my name is...
Adam was home with the girls by himself when he took this video. What's neat about it is that they are responding to him when he calls them by name. The girls are 8 1/2 months old in this video.
November Pictures
Here are the November pictures of the girls. They are getting soooo busy... they are crawling all over the house and they pull themselves up on anything they can get leverage on. It won't be long before they are walking on their own!! Wish us luck!!!!

Sleeping Babies
The girls have been sleeping 6-7 hours in a row for the past two weeks now!! We've even got a couple of 8 hours nights from Makenna. It looks like Makenna is going to be our good sleeper as she generally sleeps an hour more than Makayla every morning. We will have new pictures posted of the girls soon. We also have a couple of great videos of them that we'll try to get on here as well.

Two Month Check Up
We took the girls for there two month check up last week. The doctor gave them both a clean bill of health, and he said that they are meeting all of the appropriate milestones. Then he gave the girls their shots... 6 of them!!!! They were both so sick the rest of the day, and Makenna's fever lasted two days. Needless to say we won't be looking forward to their for month appointment.
So, here's where the girls stand:

More Pictures
Here's the link for the new pictures we've taken. Things have been going pretty good for us so far. Very busy!!!! It's been a month and the girls are getting so big. They no longer fit in there premie clothes and newborn diapers. They are starting to sleep for longer stretches at about 4 hours at a time. They generally eat 4 oz every three to four hours.
I am still feeling the effects of the Mastitist, but overall I am feeling better. This infection has been no joke, and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

The Story
So it’s been five days since our girls were born and things are going quite well. We went to the hospital Monday evening to have my cervix dilated. The catheter they put in around 10pm fell out around 12am and I was 4-5 cm dilated. (I was only 1 cm when we got to the hospital.) The doctors started the pitocin around 7am on Tuesday and I started going into labor around 8am. I was still only 4-5 cm dilated and the contractions were coming a minute apart. I was getting increasingly uncomfortable, and pretty much demanded my epidural by 9am. The anesthesiologist hooked me up with my “happy medicine”, and I labored for the rest of the afternoon. I finally reached 10 cm around 6:30pm and baby A, Makayla Jean Doyle, was born at 8:04pm. Baby B, Makenna Meran Doyle, followed her sister at 8:16pm.
I was discharged from the hospital on Thursday evening. We’ve had some good nights and some not so good nights. I think the most important lesson we’ve learned so far is: Sleep when you can, as often as you can!!! We had a pretty rough night Friday night because we didn’t nap during the day. The girls decided that they weren’t going to sleep, so we were extremely exhausted by the time Saturday morning rolled around. (No sleep for 28 hours!!) Luckily, the Grandmas were just around the corner and they came to our rescue.
So, we will be updating this site with more photos and stories. Check in every now and again to get the latest on the Doyle family.
